A Half-Feb Garden

I’ve been channelling my inner pretzel with the Boy who assists, or who I assist – it’s up for debate – in the garden. The garden itself is still stacking waiting for permission to land… or should that be to take off – so carrying out some reconstruction works to create a coherent woodland bed at the end and improve the paths seemed like a good use of time. Here are some pics

We’re about halfway through. All the brick edgings need raising to accommodate a tonne of extra pea shingle, and that will take me another week of an hour here, two there.

Here are some of the garden trying it’s best to pretend it knows spring is coming.

After that it’ll be a raised bed or two for some veg. This is only for a year as the sleepers will probably go to the Financial Broker and Broadcast Journalist when the extensive extension and refurbishment works are concluded. That and the fact that the area in question is ear marked for out water capture tank that never seems to make progress.

Here are a couple of pics, which were one to be kern to know when they were moving on might be depressing but we are actually enjoying having them stay. Who knew!

And Dog? And Tipsy (the family’s cat who is filling in for Nutmeg just now)

About TanGental

My name is Geoff Le Pard. Once I was a lawyer; now I am a writer. I've published several books: a four book series following Harry Spittle as he grows from hapless student to hapless partner in a London law firm; four others in different genres; a book of poetry; four anthologies of short fiction; and a memoir of my mother. I have several more in the pipeline. I have been blogging regularly since 2014, on topic as diverse as: poetry based on famous poems; memories from my life; my garden; my dog; a whole variety of short fiction; my attempts at baking and food; travel and the consequent disasters; theatre, film and book reviews; and the occasional thought piece. Mostly it is whatever takes my fancy. I avoid politics, mostly, and religion, always. I don't mean to upset anyone but if I do, well, sorry and I suggest you go elsewhere. These are my thoughts and no one else is to blame. If you want to nab anything I post, please acknowledge where it came from.

Looks like a lot of work – we have more cold weather coming in – possibility of snow so the garden will have to sleep a while longer.

A charming sequence! What are those shrubby things with little spidery bits growing out of them – some sort of Hazel?

Looks like you’ve demolished your garden or perhaps that was the house? I guess that’s the trouble with an English garden and the seasonality there. However, we are no shining role models of good gardening even by low antipodean standards. Geoff and the lawn mower seem to be having a stand off and the back lawn will soon be covering the washing line.
    Best wishes,
