About TanGental
My name is Geoff Le Pard. Once I was a lawyer; now I am a writer. I've published several books: a four book series following Harry Spittle as he grows from hapless student to hapless partner in a London law firm; four others in different genres; a book of poetry; four anthologies of short fiction; and a memoir of my mother. I have several more in the pipeline.
I have been blogging regularly since 2014, on topic as diverse as: poetry based on famous poems; memories from my life; my garden; my dog; a whole variety of short fiction; my attempts at baking and food; travel and the consequent disasters; theatre, film and book reviews; and the occasional thought piece. Mostly it is whatever takes my fancy.
I avoid politics, mostly, and religion, always. I don't mean to upset anyone but if I do, well, sorry and I suggest you go elsewhere.
These are my thoughts and no one else is to blame. If you want to nab anything I post, please acknowledge where it came from.
Winter is upon you, Geoff…but at least you have ready-filled hot water bottles… Here in Costa Blanca, Spain, we have cooler weather but sunshine and blue skies. Enjoy the run-up to the festive season. Cheers.

Brrr, here in Australia summer has hit but I still feel like we’re in the midst of winter. Weather “experts” are saying we’re not going to have a summer this year! Stay warm over there. ☀️💛

Good to have something a bit more seasonal in the garden.
Hope it doesn’t go on too long, though. Very cold out here in ye stickes!

I bet. And the cricket? Has it shredded your nerves yet?

It’s bonkers, isn’t it! Gotta love Leach.
As for the football – that end few mins & penalties just now was mad. I was surreptitiously listening at my desk earlier, went to post something & walked past the design room and they were all in there watching on a huge screen, whereupon I gave up trying to listen quietly at my desk, turned up the vol and did some non-taxing emails!

V wise. Yes bonkers.

Your house and garden are so beautiful. I miss having a lawn and watching the frost melt as the sun creeps across.

The frosted garden is beautiful! And so nice to see your animals have honed in on where to sleep!

I’d love to get up and do some chores, but it would be rude to disturb them…

I take no credit for mother nature’s genius. Though I probably should

Although I don’t like the cold, I love the look of a frosty nature. We have had quite a few frosty mornings already and for the weekend there is a prediction of snow… yay!

I love snow as long as I can keep my fingers warm. Is Hercules asleep and all tucked away?

Same over here, not too much snow on the street and warm fingers and toes, then I am bearable… lol
Yes, he is asleep for about 5 weeks already. It got pretty cold and at the end of October. How is Vicky doing?

She’s been asleep since mid October I think. She seems fine.

Sounds like they went to sleep at a similar time. May they sleep well and long 😊

If the plants could talk, I’m sure they’d be saying, “What the hell is going on with you lately, Mother Nature? Make up your mind already!”

The garden looks properly shocked! And the frosted eyebrows on the moai made me think of John L. Lewis. I hope you’re keeping warm.

We are though the heating costs have gone bonkers because of Putin

Yes. I can understand the blanket and cat hot water bottle in one of your recent blog photos. I doubt the recent $60 limit on Russian product will help much. Our prices have gone up, but nothing like yours.

These are my kind of favourite winter mornings, although it is still officially autumn until the 21st. And it looks like we have another week of below-zero nighttime temperatures and frosty days ahead. Bring it on, I say. I’m dreaming of a white Christmas…

We have snow for the first time in 3 years. Its very pretty but a nightmare no doubt when I head to the dentist. Hope everything remains happy and bright for you both.

Wow! So pretty. I remember frosts as a kid. We don’t see so much of it any more. We used to call it Jack Frost. Can’t remember why.
