We went to Suffolk to sort out some plumbing and get a new lock. The benefits are that we both feel like it is free time, lots of writing and stitchery stuff. Dog gets a good walk or two, though that wasn’t so true this time because of the wet weather. We did see fungi. Always a joy.
I finally got around to publishing the paperback version of my recent comedy The Diary of a Trainee In-Law and it is now live if anyone wants to sort out their Christmas presents! Here…
I was also happy to splash my way to Twickenham on Sunday to watch England take on Argentina. Not a great game. Not a great result but it’s good to get in some live entertainment
My name is Geoff Le Pard. Once I was a lawyer; now I am a writer. I've published several books: a four book series following Harry Spittle as he grows from hapless student to hapless partner in a London law firm; four others in different genres; a book of poetry; four anthologies of short fiction; and a memoir of my mother. I have several more in the pipeline.
I have been blogging regularly since 2014, on topic as diverse as: poetry based on famous poems; memories from my life; my garden; my dog; a whole variety of short fiction; my attempts at baking and food; travel and the consequent disasters; theatre, film and book reviews; and the occasional thought piece. Mostly it is whatever takes my fancy.
I avoid politics, mostly, and religion, always. I don't mean to upset anyone but if I do, well, sorry and I suggest you go elsewhere.
These are my thoughts and no one else is to blame. If you want to nab anything I post, please acknowledge where it came from.
I didn’t think of rugby, but of course! My grandson asked where the word soccer came from the other evening so I looked it up. It’s British from the word assoc (for association) which was shortened and an er added.
Yep it was a splendid fungi. Least said about the rugby the better. And how you guys didn’t make the 20:20 semis…. shame as there is such talent there…
Still, you did get out! It’s been rain all the way here in deepest Sussex, but the forecast is for a bright and sunny weekend.
What’s wrong with the rain god’s? Have they got their days mixed up and think it was the weekend Monday and today? A sunny weekend is disconcerting.
So there really is a place called Twickenham! I thought you made that up.

And that’s because there was rugby football and association football ( back on thev19th century) the later now being soccer!!

Big Ears could wear his biggest and tallest hat in that toadstool house without any problem, Geoff. The rugby wasn’t great either.

It seems that also England gets back what it missed during summer.

Twickenham? It sounds like a place in Alice in Wonderland or Winnie the Pooh. I find that delightful.

It’s a rather dull suburb of London but once it was a country village. My parents were married there so it has some romance
