This week’s prompt from Esther is store
If I’d known what to expect before
I acquired my mother in law
I’d have kept all the packing
The ribbons and wrapping
And returned her, complete, to the store.

About TanGental
My name is Geoff Le Pard. Once I was a lawyer; now I am a writer. I've published several books: a four book series following Harry Spittle as he grows from hapless student to hapless partner in a London law firm; four others in different genres; a book of poetry; four anthologies of short fiction; and a memoir of my mother. I have several more in the pipeline.
I have been blogging regularly since 2014, on topic as diverse as: poetry based on famous poems; memories from my life; my garden; my dog; a whole variety of short fiction; my attempts at baking and food; travel and the consequent disasters; theatre, film and book reviews; and the occasional thought piece. Mostly it is whatever takes my fancy.
I avoid politics, mostly, and religion, always. I don't mean to upset anyone but if I do, well, sorry and I suggest you go elsewhere.
These are my thoughts and no one else is to blame. If you want to nab anything I post, please acknowledge where it came from.
I do hope she loves it

Ah, I dress mine up in ribbons and bows all the time. I am certain she wanted to return ME to the store. 😉

If I could tie her in ribbons, mine would have been fine

Lol – If this would be so easy i think there would be a online store for selling mother-in-laws in bulk. 😉 Best wishes, Michael

now there’s a thought… imagine if you could buy them in a supermarket.. would bring another meaning to the checkout telling you there’s an unexpected item in the bagging area…

Don’t forget to mark the package fragile. Oh, wait it’s the MIL. Never mind.

Ha! I actually liked my mother-in-law. She didn’t much care for me though!

Haha. I love this one.
Having said that, my mother-in-law was great. She’s sadly deceased, now.

Mine is still living proof that you don’t have to grow old gracefully or mellow along the way…

I loved my mother-in-law. I am trying to be the same for my “might as well be my son-in-law.”

Hmm… at our first meeting she told me I wasn’t going to steal her daughter…

Really, that is so funny! My parents were very relieved to meet Terence after some of my previous boyfriends.

I was a bit taken aback; I was 19 and it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster but now she’s beginning to suffer with various medical ailments and dementia it’s time to take a step back from the battles of before

A good decision, Geoff. Some moms are very protective. I have yet to really get to that. Nothing very serious on my sons horizons yet. 19 is so young!
