This week’s Carrot Ranch prompt is
October 10, 2022, prompt: In 99 words (no more, no less), write a story that expresses the idea, “for the water.” You can find inspiration in water protection movements. Is it a celebration or a dark dystopian warning? Consider your place and the bodies of water that have shaped you. Go where the prompt leads!
‘Muesli Shortage after a blocked culvert causes the River Tiddle to flood’ screamed the headlines.
Fingers were pointed at Little Tittweaking’s Sunday school. Rumours swept the Compost and Rot that the Reverend Sonny Disposition had admitted as much, blaming ‘Pooh Sticks’ and the children floating their stools in the river. A vigilante mob demanded he stop the practice of using seats rather than twigs to mimic AA Milne’s famous game. Violence was averted when Sonny explained he had been saying the blockage stemmed from the escape of especially adhesive faeces after a toilet malfunction and recommending more dietary fibre.

About TanGental
My name is Geoff Le Pard. Once I was a lawyer; now I am a writer. I've published several books: a four book series following Harry Spittle as he grows from hapless student to hapless partner in a London law firm; four others in different genres; a book of poetry; four anthologies of short fiction; and a memoir of my mother. I have several more in the pipeline.
I have been blogging regularly since 2014, on topic as diverse as: poetry based on famous poems; memories from my life; my garden; my dog; a whole variety of short fiction; my attempts at baking and food; travel and the consequent disasters; theatre, film and book reviews; and the occasional thought piece. Mostly it is whatever takes my fancy.
I avoid politics, mostly, and religion, always. I don't mean to upset anyone but if I do, well, sorry and I suggest you go elsewhere.
These are my thoughts and no one else is to blame. If you want to nab anything I post, please acknowledge where it came from.
How old are you?

I recall my father interesting in muesli after the doctor warned him his diet was doing him no favours with something along the lines that his stools tended to be ‘gluey and gelatinous and needed instead to be floating and fluffy’. The old boy always did overshare….

And you don’t, of course?

I see my revelations as helping others less fortunate grapple with their own inadequacies by such sharing

Just a point of interest. Were they three legged or four legged stools, and did they have a cut out slot for ease of pick up?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Ah that’s what the slot was for; i assumed they doubled as a temporary a la commode. And stools with legs? I’ve had farts with boots on but never legs…
