I think I’ll take a little blogging breather. Since I’ve just had this procedure I wouldn’t want anyone to think it’s related. The procedure was fine.
I’ll leave you with this curious sculpture I saw on my way to the hospital yesterday. If you can work out what it means you’re a better man/woman/other than me.
My name is Geoff Le Pard. Once I was a lawyer; now I am a writer. I've published several books: a four book series following Harry Spittle as he grows from hapless student to hapless partner in a London law firm; four others in different genres; a book of poetry; four anthologies of short fiction; and a memoir of my mother. I have several more in the pipeline.
I have been blogging regularly since 2014, on topic as diverse as: poetry based on famous poems; memories from my life; my garden; my dog; a whole variety of short fiction; my attempts at baking and food; travel and the consequent disasters; theatre, film and book reviews; and the occasional thought piece. Mostly it is whatever takes my fancy.
I avoid politics, mostly, and religion, always. I don't mean to upset anyone but if I do, well, sorry and I suggest you go elsewhere.
These are my thoughts and no one else is to blame. If you want to nab anything I post, please acknowledge where it came from.
I hope you get well soon and feel good. I also hope you enjoy the break. I am back from one. That sculpture made me think of Angkor Was until I zoomed in and saw it clearly wasn’t. It seems to represent the Apocalypse… Dog, as usual, is a pleasure to see.
The sculpture is, without doubt, the BBC’s new method of illustrating the outcome of elections with predictions held across the x axis and results across the y axis. The individual iconography is animated and can burst into song and/or dance at the whim of the Direct General of the BBC. Graham Norton has been approached to take over the new role of head of The Election Results Display. (TERD for short). A service of remembrance is to be held in Wembley Arena for the Swingometer!
Have a relaxing break and we’ll eagerly await your return.
Great that all went well!
Enjoy your blog-free break – you have been a very busy blogger recently!
Sculpture thing – well, it just looks like it’s trying to be meaningful but …
Enjoy your blogging break, Geoff. You’re doing the right thing by taking one. Your health is far more important. They’ve always given me many benefits.
Not sure about the sculpture, looks like a nicked set piece from a second rate remake of India Jones and the Temple of Doom. I’m sure it’s cleverer and more meaningful than that. Enjoy the break.
Enjoy your break!

I trust ‘procedure’ is not kin to ‘military operation’ and that you are soon exploring the darker corners of the dictionary again

Enjoy your time off. I think the sculpture means someone had too much time on their hands. Glad the procedure went well.

TERD is genius. For once I’m eagerly awaiting David Dumbleberry and his exit stools..

I’m taking some time away too. Time to refresh and reset. Good luck with the rest of your medical procedures.

food for thought re: the sculpture – The little boxy thing on the ground to the right, the one that looks like it holds a plaque, offered no clues?
