Foxy Times

Now children, don’t do this at home….

About TanGental

My name is Geoff Le Pard. Once I was a lawyer; now I am a writer. I've published several books: a four book series following Harry Spittle as he grows from hapless student to hapless partner in a London law firm; four others in different genres; a book of poetry; four anthologies of short fiction; and a memoir of my mother. I have several more in the pipeline. I have been blogging regularly since 2014, on topic as diverse as: poetry based on famous poems; memories from my life; my garden; my dog; a whole variety of short fiction; my attempts at baking and food; travel and the consequent disasters; theatre, film and book reviews; and the occasional thought piece. Mostly it is whatever takes my fancy. I avoid politics, mostly, and religion, always. I don't mean to upset anyone but if I do, well, sorry and I suggest you go elsewhere. These are my thoughts and no one else is to blame. If you want to nab anything I post, please acknowledge where it came from.

That little foxy is trusting. I liked the paw move. There used to be a squirrel in our courtyard that would come when called (Yo! Squirrel!) and eat out of my hand, but one day I saw it approach someone walking down the sidewalk and thought, “oops, that’s a good way for the little fuzzball to get kicked” and I stopped. What does Dog think of the fox? Some of our dogs used to play with foxes…

Dog has to be indoors before she’ll appear. Nathan, who helps in the garden has the real rapport and she comes mostly when he’s about. I think I may smell too much of Dog on my own.

That is adorable. He was trying to get the food without touching you. Then he took it without biting you. I love it.

Wow, that’s amazing. Geoff, you must have a calming affect on wild animals to trust you. Reminds me we saw a few wild animals around the properties we housesat. Always fascinated us that deer and foxes would come up so close to the houses during the day without fear.

I had a friend who used to feed some raccoons this way. They would show up each evening at his back door looking to eat, and he’d feed them. One night he was out with his friends, and the raccoon family got ticked off and ripped out his back screen door.

Yes, there’s a lot of negatives around here toward those who encourage them because there are no real predators. But seeing. Them gambolling across the lawn with cubs in the Spring is too cute…

That is really lovely and I don’t know how you filmed it 😊
But … please don’t do it again! Not good for you or foxy …

So cute. I watched a young butcherbird capture, kill and eat a large caterpillar today. I wish I had a video of it too.

I think that fox is very people-oriented! The paw ploy was very cat-like. What a lovely video – and what a thrill to see the fox up close and personal. Hugh is right – you are becoming Dr. Doolittle! I take it Dog does not like the fox?
