Two More Weeks, 15th August 2021 #garden #wedding

Yep, 14 days to go as of yesterday.

So we can’t do much more in the garden than pull up the occasional persistent weed, send the resilient snails and slugs ‘on holiday’ viz tossed over the fence and hope a small outbreak of blue mould on the nicotianas doesn’t spread.

There are good signs – whisper it only – as the rain has eased and the soaked ground is stimulating rapid growth.

The temperatures are a pleasant 23-25C – 500 miles south of us, Southern Europe is being beaten by 45+C. Let’s hope that stays in Spain, at least for now.

Dog’s holiday plans are fixed – he’d be totally discombobulated by the influx of wedding guests so a close friend Steve is taking him in for a couple of days. I’m not which of us will miss the other most.

And here are a few random shots…

About TanGental

My name is Geoff Le Pard. Once I was a lawyer; now I am a writer. I've published several books: a four book series following Harry Spittle as he grows from hapless student to hapless partner in a London law firm; four others in different genres; a book of poetry; four anthologies of short fiction; and a memoir of my mother. I have several more in the pipeline. I have been blogging regularly since 2014, on topic as diverse as: poetry based on famous poems; memories from my life; my garden; my dog; a whole variety of short fiction; my attempts at baking and food; travel and the consequent disasters; theatre, film and book reviews; and the occasional thought piece. Mostly it is whatever takes my fancy. I avoid politics, mostly, and religion, always. I don't mean to upset anyone but if I do, well, sorry and I suggest you go elsewhere. These are my thoughts and no one else is to blame. If you want to nab anything I post, please acknowledge where it came from.

I hope the heat in Spain stays mainly in the plain! The garden is fantastic but poor Dog! Banished!
    I will miss him, too.
