The colour is now exploding and while I will show that later, I can no better highlight how things have been moving on than show the changes in the poppy beds since last time.
Elsewhere the roses are beginning to bloom, as are the peonies. Irises still have some colour as do the gladioli, foxgloves and campanula.
Even the cactus has been putting on a show, though this one might be slightly suggestive…
My name is Geoff Le Pard. Once I was a lawyer; now I am a writer. I've published several books: a four book series following Harry Spittle as he grows from hapless student to hapless partner in a London law firm; four others in different genres; a book of poetry; four anthologies of short fiction; and a memoir of my mother. I have several more in the pipeline.
I have been blogging regularly since 2014, on topic as diverse as: poetry based on famous poems; memories from my life; my garden; my dog; a whole variety of short fiction; my attempts at baking and food; travel and the consequent disasters; theatre, film and book reviews; and the occasional thought piece. Mostly it is whatever takes my fancy.
I avoid politics, mostly, and religion, always. I don't mean to upset anyone but if I do, well, sorry and I suggest you go elsewhere.
These are my thoughts and no one else is to blame. If you want to nab anything I post, please acknowledge where it came from.
Anytime. We do sixtieths, anniversaries, bar and bat mitzvahs, political resignations, while you wait tattoo symposiums, TED talks on the efficacy of sultanas as nucliod laxatives and eponymous parties for those who want to cry if they want to.
I’m married to such a person. I merely help her out by shouldering the burden of praise recipient… fortunately I have trained my ego to take the strain…
Your garden is so beautiful. I did not know you had a tortoise!!! But I’ve missed 8 months worth of blogs, with only a few drop ins…Apologies for never getting your publicity blog out (after making you answer all those questions). I still have all the material and rough draft, though, so I won’t say never. Dog of course, is ever charming.
Wow, Geoff. Your garden is incredible and the variety of stunning flowers could fill a gardening A-Z. Our 20th wedding anniversary is cming up in September and your garden looks like a great spot to celebrate. However, you have no worries about us gatecrashing. Can’t see the borders opening in time. Keats would love to immerse himself in your garden nd would’ve filled his notebook with inspiration.
Didn’t know you’d added a tortoise to the garden. How exciting and whimsical. Love it.
Best wishes,
Ro

Very impressive! I also like the way your lawn looks.

I feel a bit guilty about the lawn, in truth. I’m forcing nature down paths she wouldn’t naturally follow…. But I do rather enjoy it…

Your poppies are amazing. Do you just scatter poppy seeds over the winter or do you have to do more than that?

Geoff, your garden should be on a tour. It is gorgeous.

I think having 150 people for this wedding thingy is enough opening for me, assuming Covid allows that many…
