This week’s #writephoto prompt proved tricky….
A’Turk Dribblesprite paused and adjusted its assassin’s sensor. It glowed a peachy warning: Green, no danger; red, too late death imminent; peach, hmm better be cautious. The universal amber had fallen out of favour on Grebloin due to its associations with puss and aggressive apertures, hence peach. A’Turk had voted for umber – every decision on Grebloin went to a vote, it being universally acknowledged as the most democratic and least governable planet in the known universe. It – gender pronouns had been voted unconstitutional after lobbying by various asexual lichen who, while they didn’t have a voice either literally or metaphorically, did command support due to their wide coverage, which resulted from a combination of a persistent green lobby and some very sweaty politicians changing the atmosphere to semi tropical – had a thing about peach, not that it knew why, in the same way some non sentient shellfish had a thing about smooth rocks – they couldn’t get the hang of them.
Since A’Turk had adopted an avian disguise to avoid the contracted killers – when it had gone through the catalogue for off the peg disguises it felt something that complimented its propensity for swanning around would work best – it was surprised to find itself already confronted by something so obviously befanged and frankly dangerous at both ends. The over sharp raptoresque canines were only marginally worse than a expellation of canine wind which, notoriously had ended the hopes of a third title for Muchbuttock, the double jointed and beloved eclipse specialist, blowing it away from the judges’ line of sight and allowing the competition sun to blind two just as Muchbuttock was manoeuvring itself to form its renowned penumbra.
The Assassin held A’Turk in its steely gaze. A’turk stared back. Swallowing it checked the sensor. Red. It gulped. ‘You were quick. I thought I’d have longer.’
The dog-assassin smiled. ‘We like to be prompt.’
A’Turk nodded and prepared itself for annihilation. Sometimes being the prompt one sucked.
