Chelsea sets challenges here, and, in honour of a Towel Day and a homage to the late, great Douglas Adams has asked for a tribute awful poem to the Hitch Hikers Guide To The Galaxy. I couldn’t resist and, channelling my inner Vogon here we go. Sorry Douglas
When Slatibartfast
Made a vast
Fiord for Ford,
Arthur Dent
Said it meant
He’d never be ignored.
Zaphod, instead
Lost his second head
Betting a million
That something so baroque
Had to be a crock
Of shit, said Trillium.
Those from Betelgeuse
Can be so obtuse
When buying rock formations;
And even the infinitely improbable
Will not turn something horribable
Into the jewel of nations.
As Marvin, when they asked,
Said, ‘I really can’t be arsed,
‘To correct this stupid defect.’
‘It is obviously so plain,’
When you think about his name,
‘He’s not perfect but a Prefect.’

About TanGental
My name is Geoff Le Pard. Once I was a lawyer; now I am a writer. I've published several books: a four book series following Harry Spittle as he grows from hapless student to hapless partner in a London law firm; four others in different genres; a book of poetry; four anthologies of short fiction; and a memoir of my mother. I have several more in the pipeline.
I have been blogging regularly since 2014, on topic as diverse as: poetry based on famous poems; memories from my life; my garden; my dog; a whole variety of short fiction; my attempts at baking and food; travel and the consequent disasters; theatre, film and book reviews; and the occasional thought piece. Mostly it is whatever takes my fancy.
I avoid politics, mostly, and religion, always. I don't mean to upset anyone but if I do, well, sorry and I suggest you go elsewhere.
These are my thoughts and no one else is to blame. If you want to nab anything I post, please acknowledge where it came from.
True Geoffle style 😂

Absolutely, sheer genius. Best book ever.
As you say worthy of a vogon!

Now there’s a book that often comes up in conversation! This poem however may only ever be quoted by Vogons …… 😀

I do hope so… a Vogon inspired anthology is one to avoid…

I certainly snickered throughout. You’ve outdone yourself.

My head knows, whose is full and whose was mixed. Like myself, I have to tell .. mixed, something or someone mixed, or stirred your head when looking you were not. But you know this to be true. The hillarity got hold of you. 😇
