That Dessert Will Be The Death Of Me
‘What we got, Rog?’
‘Suspicious death. Victim was suffocated. No sign of the perp.’
‘Strangled? Gas? Drowning.’
‘Looks like the last one only…’
‘Only…?’
‘Not the usual sort, you know in water?’
‘Go on.’
‘The forensics guys say his airways were blocked…’
‘Rog, what are you saying…’
‘Biscuits.’
‘You can’t drown in biscuits. That’s complete…’
‘Biscuit crumbs, you know like a cheese cake base.’
‘Not another New York…?’
‘Different topping. They’ve having it tested, but the smell… oh heck, it has to be the Pie Killer.’
‘Vanilla? Chocolate?’
‘Citrus.’
‘Ah ha. So the lime is the key this time?’
This is written in response to the weekly prompt from the
December 5, 2019, prompt: In 99 words (no more, no less), write a story that includes a key lime pie. How can you use it in a story? Is it about the pie? Or about characters making, eating, or otherwise engaging with one? Go where the prompt leads!
Well done!

Did I tell you about the posters I had made up for my very first book launch of Amanda in Arabia? I wrote – Amanda encountered a runaway princess, a loyal camel and a dangerous dessert. I imagine children thought there were exploding puddings in the book instead of oceans of sand!

He he. Child eating apple pie alert! Takes me back to the oldest of old jokes ‘what’s yellow and dangerous?’ ‘Shark infested custard.’
