Charli Mills’ prompt this week is
September 6, 2018, prompt: In 99 words (no more, no less) write about an epic workplace. It can be real or imagined. Go where the prompt leads.
‘God…’
‘What’s up mate? Looks like you’ve just been told you’re the love child of the Donald and Kim Un Kardashian?’
‘My mum. Given me a right bollocking. Apparently I just called my grandma and told her that I’d just “waxed her high and wide” as promised.’
‘Geez, mate, that’s a bit… saucy.’
‘I taxed her Hyundai. I was trying to help but she’s Mrs Malaprop made flesh.’
‘Poor old thing.’
‘I know. She told dad how pleased she was that my new workplace was epic.’
‘You told me it was manky.’
‘I said, quote, “it’s totally septic, grandma”.’

About TanGental
My name is Geoff Le Pard. Once I was a lawyer; now I am a writer. I've published several books: a four book series following Harry Spittle as he grows from hapless student to hapless partner in a London law firm; four others in different genres; a book of poetry; four anthologies of short fiction; and a memoir of my mother. I have several more in the pipeline.
I have been blogging regularly since 2014, on topic as diverse as: poetry based on famous poems; memories from my life; my garden; my dog; a whole variety of short fiction; my attempts at baking and food; travel and the consequent disasters; theatre, film and book reviews; and the occasional thought piece. Mostly it is whatever takes my fancy.
I avoid politics, mostly, and religion, always. I don't mean to upset anyone but if I do, well, sorry and I suggest you go elsewhere.
These are my thoughts and no one else is to blame. If you want to nab anything I post, please acknowledge where it came from.
Woddled murds are the worst, but hilarious too 😁

I lived & worked in USA years ago. Was working in a shop & a lady was buying a jigsaw puzzle. I remember packing it in a bag & happily saying to her, “that’s 13 Dozzles please”, I had the queue in stitches!! An embarrassing moment I won’t forget. Oh I have plenty…

Ha! I was waiting to have my hair cut and the stylist turned to me and asked “Do you want to make a scene?” At least that’s what I thought I heard and so I asked him “You want me to make a scene?” “God no,” he replied. He was actually asking “Do you want a magazine?” I can totally identify with mum.

I expect your work place is really called Eric and it’s the local accent that confused you.

It happens to us all, doesn’t it? I wonder if it also happens in other languages as much?

I don’t know! Did I ever tell you about my aunt? Her best was ‘She has aspersions of grandeur!” Please do use it one day.

You are the wordsmith, Geoff. Well done. I’ve had a few altercations with those wuddled murds too. It can be a bit embarrassing at times. 🙂

I suspect we all carry the scars of the muddle or the unintended double entendre don’t we?
