This week’s prompt from the Carrot Ranch is
July 5, 2018, prompt: In 99 words (no more, no less) write a story that includes buttons. You can use the word plural or singular in different expressions, or focus on how buttons relate to a story. Go where the prompt leads.
‘It’s not stupid, Morgan. It’s very real. It has a name. Koumpounophobia.’
‘Cool. Why? They’re just buttons.’
‘Mum’s button box. All clicking and cascading as she looked for a match. One time…’
‘Is that why they say you’re buttoned up?’
‘Who says?’
‘No one. Well, those guys from the gym. You can be a bit, you know…’
‘What?’
‘Up yourself.’
‘Thanks.’
‘No, really, if you just…’
‘Button it, Morgan. You’re not helping.’
‘I bet they test Presidential candidates for koumpounophobia.’
‘Why?’
‘You wouldn’t want someone in charge of nuclear Armageddon whose terrified of buttons.’
‘You’re a moron, Morgan.’
‘Thanks.’
Don’t we almost have a might be leader like that here right now?

I absolutely cannot bear buttons! Especially decorative ones – make me feel ill!

Ha, ha! Good point! I had no idea there existed such a thing as button phobia. I don’t think the 45th has it, but I wish he did.
