Our much loved (*ahem, cough*) Prime Minister has been criticised (*surely some mistake*) for using a picture of him and his missus in front of the door at No 10 for his Crimbo card this year.
Which set me thinking. What picture would I use to front up my cards (if I sent any)? And, serendipitously a collage comes in from the Vet, clearly working hard at her degree, which seems to me to be nigh on perfect. The Seven Faces of Dog, going through every conceivable Christmas emotion…

So what would you choose? What’s your best picture? This could be a bit of a challenge. If you feel inspired, post your fav idea – it can be anything: animal vegetable, mineral or from the deep dark wells of your imaginings – but it should have some link, tangential if you like (given my blog title) to Christmastime. Then copy the link in a comment or ping it back here and I’ll pull them together (if I can) and we can decide on our top selection. Β ‘ll try and post the selection on Christmas Eve…

About TanGental
My name is Geoff Le Pard. Once I was a lawyer; now I am a writer. I've published several books: a four book series following Harry Spittle as he grows from hapless student to hapless partner in a London law firm; four others in different genres; a book of poetry; four anthologies of short fiction; and a memoir of my mother. I have several more in the pipeline.
I have been blogging regularly since 2014, on topic as diverse as: poetry based on famous poems; memories from my life; my garden; my dog; a whole variety of short fiction; my attempts at baking and food; travel and the consequent disasters; theatre, film and book reviews; and the occasional thought piece. Mostly it is whatever takes my fancy.
I avoid politics, mostly, and religion, always. I don't mean to upset anyone but if I do, well, sorry and I suggest you go elsewhere.
These are my thoughts and no one else is to blame. If you want to nab anything I post, please acknowledge where it came from.
π Love the dog card! β€οΈ ππ So this is fun. (But…what was wrong with the Prime Minister’s card?)

I think people saw it as more ego that ecclesiastical… Or something like that. People will always criticise politicians. Part of the great game.

Love Dog collage, but JC’s heap of bikes was dismal in the extreme. Shall spend a merry day thinking about possibilities and probably come up with nothing, but will have had fun – thanks!

Oh Geoff, I’d love to share my photo of my pup with his best Christmas smile on, but I don’t know how to put a photo into the comment box.

Apparently you open a new post add the picture in the usual way change the setting at the top right of the task bar so it gives you a string of http text copy that and paste in the comments…. I think!

We made our own cards one year using photographs from our travels (but not featuring ourselves, that’s naff Mr Cameron) but it was far too much like hard work ever to repeat. I like Jeremy corbyn’s snowy bicycle, it’s the sort of image I would buy. Nicola Sturgeon went for a Katie Morag illustration (children’s book character), and although I like Katie Morag I’m not sure She’s suitable for official cards. As for Dog, I most empathise with the expression at top left. Great idea for a challenge, I look forward to the results but shan’t be joining in!

I love the seven faces of Dog! What a great Christmas card image π As for me, I have no idea what I’d use. Maybe I’d force my family to dress in Star Wars attire and the resulting angry/sad/hilarious image would be used π
