Brothers – the Archaeologist and Me

brother bother 2

This little piccy is part of Colleen’s Writer’s Quote Wednesday

It isn’t exactly about writing inspiration but the Archaeologist never ceases to surprise me, and, like all older brothers, bother me. So in terms of writing inspiration, well, he has his own niche.

It doesn’t take too much imagination to work out that, while we were being photographed he was revealing some horrible truth about the world while I was doing just enough not to reveal the terror behind my eyes. A fitting summary of our childhood.

About TanGental

My name is Geoff Le Pard. Once I was a lawyer; now I am a writer. I've published several books: a four book series following Harry Spittle as he grows from hapless student to hapless partner in a London law firm; four others in different genres; a book of poetry; four anthologies of short fiction; and a memoir of my mother. I have several more in the pipeline. I have been blogging regularly since 2014, on topic as diverse as: poetry based on famous poems; memories from my life; my garden; my dog; a whole variety of short fiction; my attempts at baking and food; travel and the consequent disasters; theatre, film and book reviews; and the occasional thought piece. Mostly it is whatever takes my fancy. I avoid politics, mostly, and religion, always. I don't mean to upset anyone but if I do, well, sorry and I suggest you go elsewhere. These are my thoughts and no one else is to blame. If you want to nab anything I post, please acknowledge where it came from.

Such a sweet photo. I’m sure your Mom treasured it. My brother, who reminds me is my much YOUNGER brother (six years) was a holy terror when he was little, even though with blond ringlets and blue eyes he looked like an angel. Thank heavens he grew up and we are now close friends.

Aw, sweet! I keep a photo of Todd and his siblings in a frame next one of our three at about the same ages. Reminds me I raised two generations of children — the Hub and our kids! Be forever so young and sweet.

  4. He does look a bit…sneaky in that photo. And you look a tad frightened.

  7. Great photo and quote. Your eyes are really a picture…. I think you look like the cheeky one and your brother like the one who is used to getting his own way?
