September 16, 2015 prompt: In 99 words (no more, no less) write a love story. Explore what feeds love. It can be romantic or platonic. It can be devoted or damaged. It can be recovering or enduring. Focus on characters or setting, weaving a 99-word love story.
Puppy love
‘I hate you!’
Mary watched her daughter run indoors in tears. In an instant she was back thirty plus years to a similar argument with her mother over being dressed ‘inappropriately’.
She petted the dog who offered her two devoted brown eyes. ‘Are you the only one whose love is unconditioned?’ The dog nodded; she laughed.
‘What’s funny?’ Paul put the tea down.
‘Why are dumb animals the only ones who don’t make you work for their love?’
Paul eased himself onto the floor next to the dog and looked up at his wife. ‘Who are you calling dumb?’

My name is Geoff Le Pard. Once I was a lawyer; now I am a writer. I've published several books: a four book series following Harry Spittle as he grows from hapless student to hapless partner in a London law firm; four others in different genres; a book of poetry; four anthologies of short fiction; and a memoir of my mother. I have several more in the pipeline.
I have been blogging regularly since 2014, on topic as diverse as: poetry based on famous poems; memories from my life; my garden; my dog; a whole variety of short fiction; my attempts at baking and food; travel and the consequent disasters; theatre, film and book reviews; and the occasional thought piece. Mostly it is whatever takes my fancy.
I avoid politics, mostly, and religion, always. I don't mean to upset anyone but if I do, well, sorry and I suggest you go elsewhere.
These are my thoughts and no one else is to blame. If you want to nab anything I post, please acknowledge where it came from.
Well, Charli prompted one futuristic piece so I wrote one set far into the future ( it sits at the end of the selection) but everything else is chronological. The first couple of weeks I did other stuff so Mary’s saga started with her father dying about two weeks into my blogging ‘journey’ (vom) The only other cheats were twice in N Z last year I posted two, a Mary one and a Random kiwi one. So, short answer is, yes, I’m amazing!
First one was just before the unicorn; I think that was week two or three. First one had Peter, Mary’s father dying of a heart attack while the dog Milton, died of heat stroke in the car. Grim start really!
WTF?? 66? Have you only ever done Mary responses to Charlis stuff?
Are the responses in chronological order? if not, not interested :p :p

YES!!! Isn’t that amazing? Geoff started it with the unicorns prompt I believe and he’s written an entire novel week by week!
